Mrs. Lucille Hemmings Rosendahl, 90, of Dobson, passed away Friday evening, October 1, 2010, at the Raleigh Rehabilitation and Health Center in Raleigh. She was born October 15, 1919, in Surry County, to the late Daniel Webster and Bertha Ann Hancock Hemmings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Clifford Rosendahl; stepbrothers, Ambrose Woodruff and Max Woodruff; a brother, Jim Dan Hemmings; a half-brother, Cleve Wallace Hemmings; three sisters, Violet Llewellyn, Myrtle Stewart, and Loree Southard; and a grandson, Kenneth Rosendahl. She retired from Tultex in Dobson and was a member of the Dobson First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jay Lynn and Pat Rosendahl of Dobson, James Fredrick and Annie Lou Rosendahl of Raleigh, and Larry Rosendahl of Alabama; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Bertha Jewell Hemmings of Raleigh; sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Hemmings and Nancy B. Hemmings both of Dobson; and two half-brothers and their wives, Robert and Betty Hemmings of Dobson and David and Peggy Hemmings of Dobson. After her cremation, her cremains will be buried at Cranberry Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Laurel Springs, NC at a later date. There will be no formal services held at the funeral home. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Rosendahl family.
