Mrs. Lucy “Lela” Crissman Eaton, 85, of Pilot Mountain, passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, Saturday, March 13, 2021. She was born in Surry County, July 28, 1935, to the late Coke and Mary Jane Doss Crissman. Mrs. Eaton was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a life-long member of White Plains Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She retired from working at White Plains Christian School where she worked in the cafeteria and drove the bus. She enjoyed crocheting and working with her flowers. She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Karen Eaton, Timothy Ray “Tim” and Lisa Eaton; grandchildren and spouses, Anna and James Cromer, Zane and Savannah Eaton, Mallory Eaton, Zekiel Eaton, and Natalie Eaton; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, and Caroline Cromer; a brother Max Baker; a brother-in-law R.W. Collins; several special nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Eaton was preceded in death by her husband Bunzy Eaton; her stepfather Odell Baker; and sisters, Verla Mae Collins, and Mary Ellen Mears. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at White Plains Baptist Church with Rev. David Tucker, Rev. Tom Delph, and Rev. Dale Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday evening, March 15, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
