Lucy Simmons Pell

Mrs. Lucy Simmons Pell, 93, of Mount Airy, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 9, 2011, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Pell was born March 30, 1918, in Stokes County, the daughter of the late Alvis B. and Verda Nelson Simmons. Lucy was a homemaker and a member of Bannertown Baptist Church. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. "Bobby" and Sherry Pell of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pell was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Pell; a son, Alvis Aaron "Al" Pell; a sister, Lillie Mae Simmons Norman; and three brothers, Clarence Junius Simmons, Nathan Thomas Simmons, and Lewis Gaither Simmons. A graveside service will be held Friday, November 11, 2011, at 1:00 PM at Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Milton Sewell officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 AM until noon at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
