Lucy Mae Philpott

        Mrs. Lucy Mae Conner Philpott, age 93 of Woolwine, Virginia passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Rocky Mount Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.  Mrs. Philpott was born in Patrick County on February 26, 1925, to the late Samuel H. Conner and Ella Goode Conner.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel G. Philpott; two sons-in-law, Alfred Brammer and Donnie Hylton; two sisters, Era Elgin and Geraldine Mullins; and eight brothers, Cline, Johnny, Estel, James, Thomas, Charlie, Willie, and Curtis Conner.  Lucy was employed by W. G. Atkins and Son Store for many years in several different capacities and considered everyone there to be family.  She was devoted to her community and will be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

        Mrs. Philpott is survived by two daughters, Patricia Brammer of Woolwine and Connie Hylton of Rocky Mount; two granddaughters; two grandsons; three great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; one sister, Charlotte Conner Belcher of Woolwine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

        Funeral services for Mrs. Philpott will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at 2:00 pm at Woolwine United Methodist Church with Pastor Mary Sue Terry officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in the Woolwine Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday afternoon.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Woolwine United Methodist Church, P.O.
