Lucy Alice Willard Peele Reid

Mrs. Lucy Alice Willard Peele Reid, 92, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Universal Health Care of King. Mrs. Reid was born May 9, 1919, in Surry County, to the late Walter and Etta Reddick Willard. She retired from Brendle's and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Reid is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Johnny Harvey of Mount Airy and Joan and Steven Maxwell of Chandler, AZ; a son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Sonya Peele of Yadkinville; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nealie O'Neal of High Point. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Peele; her second husband, George Reid; a son, Mark Peele; three sisters; and three brothers. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 6, 2011, at 2:00 at Oakdale Cemetery, with Dr. Jon Cawley officiating. There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home.
