Lucy Alice Welborn

Miss Lucy Alice Welborn, 95, of 1287 Newsome Street, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Miss Welborn was born March 31, 1912, in Surry County, daughter of the late Arthur Herbert and Laura Belle Peele Welborn. She retired from Renfro Corporation and was a member of Flat Rock Presbyterian Church. She is survived by three sisters and a brother-in-law, Nancy Welborn Hiatt and Irene Welborn Morris, both of Mount Airy, and Claudine and Doug Norman of Walnut Cove; a brother, Richard Welborn of Pilot Mountain; a sister-in-law, Jessie Willis Welborn of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Miss Welborn was preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie Laura Welborn and Naomi Cleo Welborn; six brothers and five sisters-in-law, Silas Welborn, Seldon and Cary Welborn, Calvin and Kathleen Welborn, Paul and Senia Mae Welborn, Joseph Welborn, Garl and Mae Welborn, and Barbara Welborn; and two brothers-in-law, Porter Hiatt and Ed Morris. The funeral service will be held Monday, October 1, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Todd E. Byrd, and burial will follow at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
