Mrs. Lula Faye Edwards Fleming, 85, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday evening, March 3, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Fleming was born August 7, 1936, in Surry County, one of eight children born to the late Will and Viola Mae Mathis Edwards.  Faye retired from Renfro Corporation after 25 years of service and was a faithful member of Mount Airy Wesleyan Church.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends.  She is survived by a daughter and a very special son-in-law, Debbie and Nicky York of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Gina Fleming and Chris and Amy Fleming, all of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Leslie York Mills and Jerriat Jessup, Luke and Amber Fleming, Jordan and Danielle Fleming, and Megan Fleming and her fiancé, Casey Wright, all of Mount Airy; her great-grandchildren, Corbin Mills, Caroline Mills, Luke Fleming, II, and Charles “Charlie” Fleming, all of Mount Airy; a brother, Roger Edwards and his special friend, Louise Nunn, of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews, including two special nephews, Denny Key and Terry Key.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fleming was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frank Fleming; a granddaughter, Hannah Marie Fleming; three sisters, Ida Key, Mary Farmer, and Betty Cooke; and three brothers, Bud Edwards, Henry Edwards, and J.W. Edwards.  The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 6, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Richard Loman and Denny Key officiating.  Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of the Rev. Rusty Reed.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation Center and the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially April Vass, Shelia Craddock, and Angel Goins.  Also, the family appreciates the tender, loving care from Amy Childress, Bethany Hunter, Teresa Odell, and Nelda Thomas.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Airy Wesleyan Church, 2063 South Main Street, Mount Airy, NC  27030; Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC  27030; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
