Our dear mother, Lula Simpson Haymore, 83, of 387 Fish River Church Road, Mount Airy, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 18, 2007. She was a loving wife and helpmate to our dad, Ellis Wesley "Buddy" Haymore, for 62 years until his death on June 18, 2005. We, the children and our spouses, Linda and Jerry Wayne Sheets, Sr., Roger D. and Dale Haymore, and Wayne and Teresa Haymore, greatly miss her, but we are comforted to know she is with our Lord in heaven. Our children and spouses, Jerry Wayne Sheets, Jr. and Becky Sheets, Jason and Ann Marie Sheets, Jessica and Keith Ausborn, Wesley Haymore, and Daniel Haymore were greatly loved by their "Grandma." She is also survived by a great grandson, Ricky M. Sheets, a great granddaughter, Salem Olivia Sheets, a special niece and spouse, Bonnie and John Hardy, and a special nephew and spouse, Ronnie and Sarah Simpson. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Doxie Mills Simpson, and a brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Chester F. and Irene Simpson. Mom was a devoted and active member for many years at Blues Grove Baptist Church and a friend to all who knew her. For the last year and eight months, she was a resident in the skilled nursing unit at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mom nicknamed most of the nurses by names of people she worked with at Perry Manufacturing for 19 years. They all knew their names and loved her almost as much as we did. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the skilled nursing personnel at Northern Hospital of Surry County for the care, thoughts, and concern shown to Mom and her family. "You're the best!" Mom loved everyone, especially Abby Grose, CNA, and Nancy Heath, LPN. They were very special to Mom and to us and they even stayed and helped us when she needed special care. We could go home and rest knowing Mom was being cared for as if we were with her. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Blues Grove Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Sammy Lawson and the Rev. Roland McCraw, and burial will follow in the Blues Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service. The family may be contacted at other times at the home of Linda and Jerry Wayne Sheets, Sr., 194 West Greenhill Road, Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Blues Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 3069 Red Brush Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
