Lula Mae Rakes Dalton

Mrs. Lula “Mae” Rakes Dalton, age 93 of Stuart, Virginia passed away peacefully on September 30, 2023.  She was born in Patrick County, Virginia on October 17, 1929, to the late Elder Dewey Branscomb Rakes and Viola Mae Sink Rakes.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Dalton; three sisters, Gladys Lenora Rakes Barnard, Shirley Jean Rakes, and Mary Jane Rakes Lumpkin; and one brother, James “Jim” Dewey Rakes.  Mae was of the Primitive Baptist faith.  She retired from United Elastic Corp after forty-five years of service.  She truly loved her family and family gatherings.

Mrs. Dalton is survived by one daughter, Gail D. Fain of Stuart; two grandsons, Jamie Fain (Crystal) and Brandon Fain, all of Stuart; two great-grandsons, Logan Fain, and Dante Marot; two brothers, Everett Rakes (Linda), and Raymond Rakes; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service for Mrs. Dalton will be held at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Combs officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in the Elamsville Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Wednesday afternoon.  Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
