Lummie Mae Hodges

Mrs. Lummie Mae Wilson Hodges, 89, of Mount Airy, passed away early Monday morning, July 9, 2018, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Hodges was born July 5, 1929, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late Jesse Raleigh and Anne Greenwood Wilson.  Mae was a homemaker and a faithful and longtime member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Bettie and Moody Keith of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Alesia and Ronnie Brady and Daniel and Joni Keith, all of Mount Airy; her great-grandchildren, Caitlin Bobbitt, Addison Brady, Emily Keith, Lydia Keith, and Trevor Keith, all of Mount Airy; a sister, Edna Harold of Ararat, VA; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by her husband, John Cecil Hodges; a sister, Josephine Collins; and a brother, Coy Wilson.  The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 12, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. J. Scott Schuyler officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by her caregiver, Karen Whitt, and the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
