Luther Lee Walton

Luther Lee Walton, age 71 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. He was born in Carroll County on November 27, 1940 to the late Charlie and Leola Young Walton. In addition to his parents, Luther was preceded in death by one sister, Lucy Scott, and three infant brothers.
Luther is survived by his wife of 49 years, Paulene Rakes Walton of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Lee and Pam Walton of Laurel Fork; one daughter, Sandra Walton VanSutphin of Meadows of Dan; one grandson; one great-grandson; two step-grandsons; and two step-granddaughters; one brother, David Glenn Walton of Ararat; and two sisters, Eula Young of Laurel Fork and Virginia Scearce of Danville.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Shade Cemetery with Pastor Jonathan Goins and Rev. Alfred Hylton officiating. Pallbearers will be Lee Walton, Brian Culler, Glenn Conner, David Ray Walton, Ricky Walton, Jason Shelor, Leonard Dalton and Johnny Plasters. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Sandra W. VanSutphin, located just off Willis Road on Hosta Lane in Meadows of Dan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vesta Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 911, Meadows of Dan, Virginia 24120. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
