Lydia Laura Griffin Towe

LYDIA LAURA GRIFFIN TOWE, Mom to some and “Granny” to many, broke free from her earthly bonds on May 24, 2022. She was born in Carroll County on August 31, 1922 to the late Bruce and Alvertia Beasley Griffin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Towe; a son, Randy Towe; a great-grandson, Tyler Hiatt; sons-in-law, McElroy Hiatt and Greg Parries; brothers Ellis, Brooks, Elmer, John Lewis, Coolidge, Glen, and Oren Ralph Griffin.

Those who will cherish and remember the time spent with her include a daughter, Marguerite Parries; a son and daughter-in-law, Morgan and Phyllis Towe; grandchildren, Michael Hiatt, Laura Brown, and Cyndi Stone; great-grandchildren, Brandon Hill and wife Shaska, Joseph Boyles, and Jessica Boyles; great-great grandchildren, Addison Brooke Hill, Jurnie Grace Hill, and Lydia Tillie Jade Hill; and a fur baby, Princess.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Moody Chapel with the Elder Brian Hill officiating. Visitors will be received from 10:00 AM until time for the service. Visitors may also pay their respects from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM on Friday May 27, 2022. A graveside service will follow in the Towe family cemetery in Cana, VA.
