Lynda Sawyers

Mrs. Lynda Jean Simmons Sawyers, age 74, of Mt. Airy, NC passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, in Dobson, NC. She was born in Surry County on March 18, 1947, to the late Edgar Harlan Simmons and the late Almedia Pauline Hale Simmons. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rex Yancy Sawyers and sister Diane Cassell. Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Gray Johnson, Amy and Kent Trivette; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Lori Sawyers; grandchildren, Jimmie and Brooke Johnson, Justin and Linda Johnson, Jordan and Ryan Claypool, Corbin Trivette, Joseph Sawyers, Joshua Sawyers, Emily Tate, Parker Johnson; great-grandchildren, Juliana Johnson, Maddox Johnson, Phoebe Johnson, Genevieve Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Raiden Bowman, Raina Bowman and Kamryn Claypool; sisters, Nancy Watson and Frankie Simmons; brothers and sister-in-law, Eddie and Cathy Simmons and James Simmons and several nieces and nephews.

Mom lived her life for her children; grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was “Ninny” to every child she met. She loved her family dearly. There was never a day that Mom didn’t speak about God and how blessed she was. We will miss you Mom very much.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 16, 2021, in the Johnson Family Cemetery. Chaplain Jonathan Casstevens will officiate the service. Mrs. Sawyers will lie in state at the gravesite one hour before the graveside service. There will be no formal services at the funeral home. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Sawyers family.
