Mabel Marie Boyd Rose

Mrs. Mabel Marie Boyd Rose, 84, of 303 East Elm Street, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born February 25, 1925, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Elmer Elsworth and Nancy Elizabeth Marshall Boyd. She was a retired beautician and also worked in child care for many years. Mrs. Rose was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Bobbie and Reggie Davis of Dobson, and Brookie Bunton, Myra and Bill Oakley, and Toni and Danny Ledford, all of Mount Airy; eight grandchildren, Brandon Marion, Kim Collins, Jennifer Bowe, Toby Bunton, Alison Payne, Sasha Reddic, Kirbi Reddic, and Alex Ledford; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorene West of Mount Airy; and a brother and two sisters-in-law, Maynard and Emily Boyd of Monroe, GA, and Margaret Boyd of Ararat, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Starling Rose; a son, Gale Rose; two brothers, Eugene Boyd and Vernon Boyd; and a son-in-law, Gary Bunton. The funeral service will be held Monday, August 31, 2009, at 3:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Wallace and the Rev. David Gantt officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
