Mabel Agnes Clement Smith

Mrs. Mabel Agnes Clement Smith, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, October 23, 2006, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. A native of Patrick County, VA, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Harry Lee Clement, Sr. and Mary Nina Cuckler Clement. She was retired from Quality Mills and a retired waitress from Blue Ridge and Southern 500 restaurants. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by a daughter, Pauline Gilley of Mount Airy; three grandchildren and spouses, Renee and Danny Alexander of Patrick Springs, VA, Peppey and Missy Montgomery of Ararat, VA, and Stevie Gilley of Mount Airy; two great grandchildren; and a special friend of many years, "Sweetpea," In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Winchester Smith; a daughter, Mary Lee Montgomery; a sister, Mary Martin; and a brother, Harry Lee Clement, Jr. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 27, 2006, at Oakdale Cemetery. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Buford Jessup. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home from 12:30 PM until time to leave for the service, and other times at the home of Pauline Gilley, 2234 Westfield Road, Mount Airy.
