Mabel Blackmon Throckmorton

Mrs. Mabel Blackmon Throckmorton age 77 of 217 Lane Crest Dr., Cana, VA, wife of Mr. Thomas Ray "Jack" Throckmorton passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at her home. She was born August 7, 1929 in Surry County to the late Charles Curtis and Capitola Coins Blackmon. She was retired from Spencer's Inc. and was a homemaker. Mrs. Throckmorton was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church where she was active in the Choir, a member of the UMW, was a Sunday school teacher and helped with Bible School. Surviving are her husband, Thomas Ray "Jack Throckmorton of the home, two daughters and a son-in-law, Marilyn Boles and fiance' Mickey Poteat and Kathy and Greg Sapp all of Cana, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Ray and Cheryl Ann Throckmorton, Cana, VA; 7 grandchildren, Thomas Ray Throckmorton, Jr., Linsay Rae Throckmorton, Jayson Thomas Throckmorton, Cody Gregory Sapp, Carie Lynn Waters, Noel Lee Boles and Tiffy Christina Moore; six great grandchildren, Thomas Ray Throckmorton, III, Nicholas Konoloff Throckmorton, Christian Jordan Throckmorton, Kennedi Lakien Hicks, Kadance Grayson Grubbs and Tyler David Moore; two sisters, Vera McMillian, St. Petersburg, FL and Elvie Irene Caney, Clearwater, FL and a brother and sister-in-law,. Zack and Betty Blackmon, Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blackmon was preceded in death by two brothers, Jeffrey Blackmon and Charles Curtis Blackmon. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Bud Cameron and Dr. Steve Rainey with burial to follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Thursday night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
