Mrs. Annie Mae Madeline Pruitt Kirkman, 89, of Mount Airy, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Monday morning from Northern Regional Hospital Skilled Care Unit. She was born in Patrick County, September 4, 1931, to the late Theodore Roosevelt Pruitt and Minnie Lessie Fulk Pruitt. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Madeline was a faithful member of Shelton Church of the Brethren where she loved attending. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gary Doss; a daughter-in-law, Lavonda Bateman Kirkman; grandson, Justin Dale Kirkman and wife Abigail; two precious great-grandchildren, Ella Rose Kirkman and Hunter Ellis Kirkman; great-grand dog, Rebel; one brother and sister-in-law, Stewart and Sandra Pruitt, one sister-in-law, Cheryl Pruitt; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kirkman was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Kirkman; two sons, Gary Ellis Kirkman and Timothy Dale Kirkman; two sisters, Irene Pruitt Jessup, and Lottie Pruitt Allen; two brothers, Horace Pruitt, and Wayne Pruitt; and by an infant brother, John Morace Pruitt. A service of worship and celebration of Madeline’s life will be held on Wednesday afternoon, August 18, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Shelton Church of the Brethren, with Rev. Joseph Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church from 1:00 ~ 2:00 PM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Kirkman family. The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of Northern Regional Hospital, Skilled Nursing Floor, and the Northern Wound Care for compassion towards Mrs. Kirkman.
