Madge Jones Johnson, age 92, of Mount Airy, North Carolina, died on December 28, 2020, after complications following surgery. She was born on August 19, 1928, to Joseph Hamilton Jones and Pearl Toms Jones of Lattimore, North Carolina.
Mrs. Johnson attended Appalachian State University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in music in 1949. Later, she received a Master’s Degree in Music Arts from ASU in 1977. She was an accomplished musician of trumpet, piano and voice.
She married Charles Henry Johnson, Jr. in 1949, who preceded her in death in 1989. They raised four children, Kathy, Cindy, Chuck and Leigh.
Mrs. Johnson taught music in the Mount Airy City School System for nearly 40 years.
She is survived by her four children Kathy Kennedy (Ross), Cindy Kiely (John), Chuck Johnson (Jo Lynn) and Leigh Seipp (Gregg), eight grandchildren; Jack Kennedy III, Ashley Drury, Chris Johnson, Eric Johnson, Sean Johnson, Adam Seipp, Charlie Seipp and Katheryn (Kit) Seipp along with four great grandchildren; Savannah Kennedy, Madison Kennedy, Kelsey Kennedy, Nolan Johnson and one great great grandchild, Ella Rhae Hargett.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children.
In light of the pandemic, a memorial service in celebration of her life will be held for family and friends,
