Mae Margaret Barker

Ms. Mae Margaret Barker, 58, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born February 10, 1956, in Forsyth County, to Margaret Selena Reeves Barker and the late Caleb Archie Barker. After her retirement from Stokes County Schools, Ms. Barker worked as a substitute teacher at Lawsonville Elementary School. She was a member of the Christian faith. Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Margaret Selena Reeves Barker; special cousins, Doug Reeves and Maudie Ramsey; many other cousins; special friends, Donna Hiatt and Mike Seivers; a host of friends; and her godparents, Don and Polly Paton. In addition to her father, Ms. Barker was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charlie and Eunice Reeves; and her paternal grandparents, Maude Rule and James W. Barker. The family will receive friends at Holly Springs Baptist Church on Thursday, February 27, 2014, from 5:00 until 6:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 6:00 PM with the Rev. Wayburn Mosley and Bro. Don Collins officiating. A private interment will be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lawsonville Elementary School, 4611 NC Highway 8 North, Lawsonville, NC 27022. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
