Mrs. Magdalena Mary Sivel Lowry, 83, of Mount Airy, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday morning, October 28, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Lowry was born December 22, 1925, in Prague, Czech Republic, to the late Dr. Vaclav W. and Elizabeth Blumenthal Sivel. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Lowry was an active member of the Winston-Salem Chapter of MOAA. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Dr. Stephen A. Yokeley of Mount Airy; a granddaughter and her husband, Tiffany Yokeley Martin and Bradley of Statesville; three nieces, Suzanne Tikkanen of Burlingame, CA, Joan Ryan Clark of Pembroke, FL, and Sandra Ryan Musgrove of Bothell, WA; and three nephews, Dr. Lowry Caudill of Durham, Jack Caudill of Avon, CT, and Joseph Trifiletti of Litchfield Beach, SC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lowry was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Walter Clyde Lowry, Jr.; and a sister, Edith Sivel Krivy. The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Airy, with Dr. Steve Lindsley officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. David Majure and his staff at Right Care and the staff at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the loving care shown to Magdalena during her illness.
