Mamerta Brujan Dizon

Mamerta Brujan Dizon was born on May 11, 1925 and passed away on November 28, 2007 at 7:45 a.m. She was a native of the Philippines and came to the United States in 1980. She resided in Mt. Airy for a short time before moving to Norfolk, VA. She lived in Virginia for 27 years. Mamerta passed away surrounded by her family after her struggle with a sudden illness. She is survived by her nine children, Teresita (Tess) D. Vogler of Greensboro; Renato (Boy) B. Dizon of Virginia Beach, VA; Danilo (Dan) B. Dizon of Norfolk, VA; Lilia D. Mestyanek of Newburg, NY; Ben-Hur Dizon of Mt. Airy; Josiephine D. Navarrete of Mt. Airy; Elizabeth B. Dizon of Quezon City, Philippines; Ronald B. Dizon of Mt. Airy; and Marilyn (Lyn) D. Christianson of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; three great grandsons and three great granddaughters. Mamerta is preceded in death by her husband, Rufino G. Dizon and a daughter Lusviminda B. Dizon. Mamerta's final wishes were that her ashes be buried next to her late husband and daughter in the Philippines. The Dizon family would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care who helped care for Mamerta in the last two months of her life. Prayer service for family and friends will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 1208 N. Main Street on Friday, November 30, at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
