Mamie Sue Brown

Mrs. Mamie Sue Neal Brown, 93, of Mt. Airy passed on February 6, 2022, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy.  She was born in Surry County on April 16, 1928, to the late Jim and Sallie Mae Southern Neal.  Mrs. Brown was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a devoted Christian woman.  She was a faithful member of Joy Light Baptist Church and attended regularly as long as her health permitted.  Mrs. Brown loved her church and church family.  She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Boles and husband, Tommy, Patricia Carpenter, Dianne Tate and boyfriend Billy Horton; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Hoover Brown; three sisters, Louise Easter, Polly McHone, Frances Flinchum; a brother Jim Neal; and a stepsister Lillie Morris.  A funeral service will be held at Joy Light Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 10, 2022, with the Rev. Dale Bass and Rev. Randy Edwards officiating.  A private entombment will be Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.  Memorial contributions may be sent to Joy Light Baptist Church, Ladies Fellowship, 163 Highland Drive, Mt.
