Mamie Ruth Cockerham Snow

Mrs. Mamie Ruth Cockerham Snow, 77, of 322 Flippin Road, Lowgap, passed away Tuesday night, November 19, 2013. Mrs. Snow was born April 17, 1936, in Surry County, one of eight children born to the late Andy Coy and Ruby Lela Holder Cockerham. Mamie retired as an inspector from Spencer's Inc. and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Mount Airy. She is survived by a daughter, Carlene Snow Daniels of Lowgap; a son and daughter-in-law, William Nelson and Shannon Snow of Lowgap; two grandchildren, Jacob Snow and Bradlee Daniels, both of Lowgap; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sue Bell and Kathy and Wayne Ashburn, all of Mount Airy, and Margaret Cockerham and Mike Jones of Lowgap; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Mose and Linda Cockerham of Dobson, Buddy and Aline Cockerham of Lowgap, and Haley and Carolyn Cockerham of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Snow was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Woltz "Ted" Snow; and a brother, Maynard Cockerham. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 22, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alton Bledsoe and Elder Arwood "Woody" Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from noon until 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Shelley Lowe and Carol Casstevens.
