Margaret Ann Amos Murphy

Mrs. Margaret Ann Amos Murphy, 85, of Axton VA, passed away March 25, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.

            Margaret was born March 26,1937, in Annapolis MD. She dedicated her life caring for others. She spent 30 years as a caregiver at Martinsville Convalescent Center in Martinsville, VA. Upon her retirement, she volunteered for hospice in her spare time. Margaret loved attending her church, reading, tending to her flowers, and traveling.

            Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Katheryn Amos; her husband, Claude L. Murphy; and her daughter Bonnie Murphy. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Lois Murphy (Lester) of Roanoke, VA, and Joyce (Van) Lemons, of Eden NC; honorary son, Jamie Gammons, of Independence, VA; grandchildren, Jamie, Amanda, Zack and Kelsey, Ashlee Lemons, and Amber Lemons; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; her brother, James A.  Amos, of Milford, DE; sisters, Kathy (Richard) Miller, of Milton, DE, Ellen (Bobby) Klimes, of Milton DE, and Alice (Tom) Powers, of Indian Land, SC; her beloved dog, Coco; and wonderful friends and neighbors. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson NC 27017, or to The SPCA of Martinsville-Henry County, 132 Joseph Martin Highway, Martinsville VA 24112.
