Margaret Louise Covington Seal

Margaret Louise Covington Seal passed away peacefully at her home in Wilmington, N.C. on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 87 years old.  She was predeceased by Cecil, her much loved husband of over 65 years. Margaret was born on November 14, 1935 in Roberdel, NC to Monnie and Etta (Watts) Covington.  She began working at Roses Department Store where she met the love of her life, Cecil Wayne Seal, Sr.  Shortly after, they embarked on an adventurous trip to get married in June of 1955 and later had three beautiful children enjoying a long and happy life spanning from Rockingham, Wilmington, Henderson, Wrightsville Beach, Mount Airy and finally back to Wilmington again.  In 1975, Cecil and Margaret purchased Newell’s Department Store at Wrightsville Beach as one of their successful business endeavors together.  Upon retirement in 1996, Margaret and Cecil relocated to Mount Airy, where they spent many happy days with adoring grandchildren who visited frequently at their beloved mountain home.  She will also be remembered for telling funny stories of memories with her husband and made everyone laugh until crying.  In 2005, they returned to Wilmington to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Margaret had a loving spirit that was felt by everyone, especially children and animals.  She opened her home and her heart to so many extended family members and friends, always offering respite to those in need.  She was often lovingly referred to as “Aunt Mog”.  She was a gardener and fashion icon of the highest caliber, winning awards for her creative decorations and gardening talent while residing at Wrightsville Beach. Margaret leaves behind children, Sandra Seal Fuller, Cecil Wayne Seal Jr. and wife Kim, Donna G. Seal Rosenzweig and husband Roddy.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, Cecil Wayne Seal III (Tray), Geoffrey Seal, Katherine Brett Clarke and husband Mike and Gabriel Fuller, and a great-granddaughter Cecilia Rose Clarke.  In addition, she is survived by her siblings, Elsie (Covington) Wilson, Lloyd “Joe” Covington and wife Linda.  She was preceded in death by siblings James “Buddy” Covington, Betty Lou Covington, Mary “Susie” Covington Garrison, Edith Mae Covington Valentine and sweet Doraleen Covington Joyner. A special mention to her furry friend, Finn whom she adored.  The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful committed caregivers of Home Instead, Eldercare and Lower Cape Fear Hospice.  A special thank you to Margaret’s niece, Wendy Joyner who with patience, dedication, gentleness and love, made her remaining time here on earth most comfortable and peaceful.
