Mrs. Margaret Lee Thomas Dollyhigh, 88, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Dunmore Plantation in Dobson, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born May 13, 1922, in Surry County, to the late Rufus Garland and Allie May Marshall Thomas. She worked as a CNA at Colonial Rest Home and later at Surry Community Nursing Center. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Margaret is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Tommy Hooker of Mount Airy; a son, Randy Dollyhigh and his fiancée, Sherry Moore, of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Irene Dollyhigh of Dobson; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Arrington Dollyhigh of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Odis Winfred Dollyhigh; a son, Ronald Lee Dollyhigh; four sisters, Arlene Beasley, Mary Smith, Clara Ayers, and Doris Lovill; and a brother, James Thomas. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 25, 2011, at 1:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jimmy Slate, the Rev. Chris McMillian, and the Rev. Jason Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 24, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Dunmore Plantation, 515 West Kapp Street, Dobson, NC 27017. The family wishes to thank the staff of Dunmore Plantation for all their love and excellent nursing care.
