Mrs. Margaret "Erlene" Brinkley Frye, age 80, died peacefully on August 25, 2010. She was the daughter of Willie Lee and Percy Lynch Brinkley. Mrs. Frye was preceded in death by her twin sister, Alene; sister, Juanita B. Collins; brothers Chester Madison, Joe Preston and Charles Wayne Brinkley and a son-in-law, James C. Hill, Jr.. She was retired from Cross Creek Apparel. In addition, Mrs. Frye was a Sunday school teacher; active member of Highland Park Baptist Church for fifty seven years; and thoroughly enjoyed volunteering in the gift shop of Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was a friend to many, bringing inspiration through her special ministry of calling or sending cards and notes to others. Mrs. Frye was the recipient of a liver transplant sixteen years ago and always expressed her gratitude for the special gift of life given to her by an anonymous donor family. Mrs. Frye was petite in stature yet displayed a large spirit of love and kindness for others. Survivors include her loving husband of fifty seven years, Wade C. Frye of the home; daughters, Janice (Jan) Frye Hill of Winston-Salem; Phyllis Frye James and husband Stuart of Raleigh; granddaughter, Elizabeth King and husband Sy of Winston-Salem; sister, Louvenia B. Hill of Pilot Mountain as well as many special nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Highland Park Baptist Church by the Reverend Darrell Tate. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall. The family would like to express their gratitude to Mrs. Frye's special nurse and friend Julie Hudson; Dr. Allistair Smith and team members of the Duke Liver Center.
