Margaret "Faye" Davenport Jarrell

Mrs. Margaret “Faye” Davenport Jarrell, 89, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Jarrell was born March 18, 1927, in Surry County, to the late Joseph Glen and Emma McCraw Davenport. Faye was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she served in the baby nursery for over 37 years. Mrs. Jarrell graduated from Franklin High School and was a star basketball player for the school’s team. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Norris Jarrell of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Jimmy Rogers of Pilot Mountain; a son and daughter-in-law, Gray and Judy Jarrell of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Brian Rogers of Winston-Salem, and Lori Thomas and Jody Jarrell, both of Mount Airy; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Rogers, Shannon Rogers, and Brian “B” Rogers, all of Winston-Salem, and Emmory Thomas and Anslee Thomas, both of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Elsie Davenport of Winston-Salem; and a special aunt, Melba Shelton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jarrell was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Davis; and a brother, Jack Davenport. The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 28, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Alex L. Martin and Greg Davenport officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
