Margaret Layte Puckett Jones

Ms. Margaret Layte Puckett Jones, 76, of 154 Fairlane Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Monday afternoon, March 7, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Ms. Jones was born January 18, 1935, in Surry County, daughter of the late Claude Turner and Maudie Hall Puckett. Margaret retired as an in-home health care worker from Surry County Friends of Seniors and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Arthur Foulks of Madison and Carolyn Johnson of Mount Airy; a son, Kenneth Jones of Clemmons; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Frankie and Clyde Lawson of Stuart, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Jones was preceded in death by six sisters, Mildred Watts, Euelala Puckett, Maxine White, Violet Naylor, Marylene Griffin, and Vivian Watts; and two brothers, Claude L. Puckett and Leo Turner Puckett. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 11, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Woodland Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Slate and the Rev. Johnny Easter officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
