Margaret Leigh Tolbert Marvin

Mrs. Margaret Leigh Tolbert Marvin, age 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday evening August 10, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Marvin was born in Surry County, July 13, 1946, to the late William “Ed” Tolbert and Lottie Newman Tolbert. She was a proud prior owner of Cana Mount Airy Florist and later retired after 18 years of service as a schoolteacher at White Plains. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and if she wasn’t doing that, she could be found gardening or canning some of her favorite foods. She was also very thankful for her friends at the mobile home park. Mrs. Marvin is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wesley Marvin and Tammy; grandchildren and their spouses, Whitney Marvin and Mitchell Coble, Tiffany Hazel and Austin, Amanda Marvin; great grandchildren, Hudson Coble, Hunter Coble, Axl Hazel; brother, Larry Tolbert; several nieces and nephews; In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marvin was preceded in death by her loving husband of many years, Fred Marvin; sister and brother-in-law, Millie Gilley and Wade; brother and sister-in-law, Archie Tolbert and Charldean A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 2 PM at Union Hill Friends Church, with the Rev. Ernest Brown and Rev. Fonda Younger officiating. No formal visitation will be held. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to the Union Hill Friends Church 2315 Red Brush Road, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.
