Margaret Elizabeth Nichols

Miss Margaret Elizabeth Nichols age 90 of Mount Airy, passed away at Golden Living Nursing Center-Surry Community on March 24, 2012. She was born in Surry County on November 27, 1921, the daughter of the late Muncy S. Nichols and May Gant Nichols. Margaret was employed at the Hilton Insurance Agency for 25 Years and later as a CNA at the hospital and an assistant to Marvin Sparger at his insurance agency. Margaret was an accomplished pianist and played on the Sunset Serenade on WPAQ radio when the station first began operations. She also played between shows at the Grand Theater, served as pianist at church for several years and played for services at Twelve Oaks. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother. She had no known living relatives but her passing is grieved by many friends and her long-time caregivers Gary and Linda Kniskern. Margaret was a longtime member of Rockford Street United Methodist Church. Special thanks to the staff at Golden Living and Twelve Oaks, the Wesley Sunday School Class and Circle of Friends at Rockford Street United Methodist Church and the Hospice staff that attended her. Funeral services will be held Monday March 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenda Bramlet presiding. Visitation will be one hour before the service at Moody Funeral Home and Chapel in Mt. Airy. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
