Mrs. Margaret Louise Wilson Payne, 95, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Payne was born March 15, 1914, in Rockingham County, to Harvey and Annie Gwyn Wilson. She retired from Renfro Corporation after 43 years of service and was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Aline Payne of Mount Airy; a grandson, Tommy Payne; an adopted granddaughter, Kathy Bryant; a stepgranddaughter, Deborah Cochran; stepgrandson, Calvin Cochran; three great-grandchildren; several nephews; and a special niece, Annie Mae (Hanner). In addition to her parents, Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Payne; three sisters, Minnie Moncus, Ruby Gravely, and Lucy Beck; and two brothers, Wade Wilson and J.C. Wilson. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Doug Cockerham and the Rev. Woody Flippin officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
