Mrs. Margaret Madeline Gilbert Solters, 80, of 152 Boxwood Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Solters was born June 2, 1926, in Surry County, to the late Charles Preston and Lottie Tilley Gilbert. She was retired from Quality Mills after 28 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Airy, where she was a faithful member of the Chancel Choir and the Dorcus Sunday School Class. An avid Bridge player, Mrs. Solters was also a former member of the Mount Airy Country Club Ladies Golf Association and the White Pines Country Club Ladies Golf Association. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank Francis Solters of the home; and a daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Gilbert Solters of the home. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Solters was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Franklin Gilbert, James E. "Jim" Gilbert, and William T. "Bill" Gilbert. The funeral service will be held Friday, January 26, 2007 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Dr. Roger B. Gilbert, and burial will be in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 in the Fireside Room of First Baptist Church in Mount Airy.
