Margarette Anne Melton Johnson

Mrs. Margarette Anne Melton Johnson, 72, of Mount Airy, the wife of John Lee Johnson, passed away Sunday evening, September 28, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born July 1, 1936, in Surry County, to the late Paul Douglas and Fannie Byrd Melton. She was a homemaker and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Mountain Park High School Class of 1955 and was the salutatorian. Surviving are her husband, John Lee Johnson of the home; a daughter, Dr. Sharon Lynn Johnson of Caneadea, NY; and a brother and sister-in-law, Douglas Lee and Bonnie Melton of Zephyr. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by a brother, James Melton. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Carlton McDaniel, Sr. and Rev. Kermit Gray will officiate the services. The family will receive friends at Piney Grove Baptist Church on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8.
