Margie Ree Michael Neal

Margie Ree Michael Neal, age 82, of Pinnacle, passed from this life to her heavenly home on the evening of April 24, 2024, leaving behind her family and friends.

Margie was born February 17, 1942, in Surry County (Shoals Community) to the late Everette Garfield and Ruby Jane Barber Michael.  She graduated from Shoals High School and married the love of her life, Michael Neal, in 1962.  Together they enjoyed 60+ years of marriage.

As a long-time member of Shoals Baptist Church, Margie was active in various church activities and enjoyed singing in the choir and with her cousins’ gospel group, The Mickles Family.   She was a dedicated and loving wife, daughter, mother, and grandmother, always making her family a priority in her life.  She was a devoted caretaker to both her parents, ensuring that their needs were met.   Margie and her husband, Mike, raised tobacco and large gardens which she took pride in preserving the bounty.   Later in life, Margie worked for several years at Princess House, Inc.  She was an excellent cook and loved working with her flowers.  Margie loved animals, especially cats, which was demonstrated by the excellent care they received.

Margie was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Michael Neal; her son-in-law, Thomas Bryant’ father and mother-in-law, Charles Edwin, and Mildred Declovice Robertson Neal; two brothers-in-law, Allan Neal and Doug Neal; sister-in-law, Betty Neal.

Surviving to treasure her memory, are her daughter, Marisa Neal Bryant of Pinnacle; grandson, Trevor Bryant; and sister-in-law, Barbara Neal; one niece, Vivian Mahathey and three nephews, Lewis Neal, Greg Neal, and Kevin Neal; various cousins and many friends.

The funeral service and family visitation will be conducted at the Shoals Baptist Church, 4112 Shoals Road, Pinnacle, NC., on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 3:00 PM with the Reverend Joey Lane officiating.  A visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 PM.  A burial will follow in the church cemetery.   Memorials may be made to Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in care of Ethan Boles, 1319 Hauser Road, Pinnacle, NC., or to Mountain Valley Hospice at 1427 Edgewood Dr., Suite 101, Mt.
