Margie Hawks Tate

Mrs. Margie Hawks Tate, 82, of 334 Austin Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, April 5, 2013, at her home. Mrs. Tate was born June 30, 1930, in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of the late Dexter and Daisy Hawks. She retired as a seamer from Adams-Millis Corporation and was of the Holiness faith. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Bowman of Mount Airy; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger Tate of Charlotte, Jesse Tate of Mount Airy, and Edgar and Darlene Tate of Mount Airy; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Nellie Pyles of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Tate; four daughters, Opalene Arrington, Frances Johnson, Sylvia Tate, and Freda Duncan; a son, Bobby Tate; three sisters; and two brothers. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 8, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Trinity Faith Community Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Felts, the Rev. Kevin Wilson, and Edgar Tate officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
