Marguerite Laird Taylor Hixson

Marguerite Laird Taylor Hixson was born on January 31, 1933 in Carthage, NC.  She is preceded in death by her father Major John L. Taylor Sr., her mother Maggie Richardson Taylor, her sister Elizabeth Lanier Jones and her husband William Steve Hixson whom she married in 1959.  Surviving are her three daughters Rita Mallenbaum and spouse Dr. Sidney Mallenbaum, Mary Stanley and spouse Darvis Stanley, Lisa Griffin, her brother the Reverend John L. Taylor Jr., three grandsons Joshua Mallenbaum, Isaac Mallenbaum and Jacob Griffin, one great grandson Elijah Mallenbaum and one great granddaughter Valerie Mallenbaum.  Marguerite lived in Fayetteville, NC where she graduated from Fayetteville Senior High School and Worth Business College.  She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi.  She attended Haymount United Methodist Church while living there.  Marguerite also lived in Ft. Bragg, NC where her father was stationed in the military and served 28 years.  One of her first jobs was in Ft. Bragg where she worked 7 years.  When she moved to Mt. Airy she worked at Quality Mills and Cross Creek Apparel for 31 years.  After Marguerite retired she worked part time for the Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center for 9 years.  She loved people and especially spending time with her family, travel, red hat meetings, dancing, church, and going out to eat or just staying on the go in general.  Marguerite was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and she lived to be 89 years old.  The funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 12th at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 10am until time for the service at the church.  Services will be conducted by Pastors Scott Schuyler and Larry McCoy with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to Mt.
