Mrs. Marian "Cub" Simmons Hatcher, 79, of 204 Arless McCraw Road, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, November 30, 2007, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Hatcher was born February 7, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Roy G. and Fannie Mae Eads Simmons. Mrs. Hatcher worked at Lynne Hosiery for many years and later volunteered with Hospice of Surry County. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Terry Hedenskog of Colfax; a son and daughter-in-law, Wade Hampton and Heather Hatcher of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Daniel Wade Hatcher, Mary Glen Hatcher, Jessica Lee Hedenskog, and Terry Eldon Hedenskog II; a sister, Evelyn Simmons Dark of Winston-Salem; two sisters-in-law, Candace Street Simmons of Glendon and Virginia Hatcher Gardner of Roanoke, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hatcher was preceded in death by her husband, David Glenn Hatcher; and two brothers, Calvin Albert Simmons and Frank Simmons. The family will receive friends Monday, December 3, 2007, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Calvary Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 3, 2007, at 12:00 noon at Calvary Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Dr. Wayne Hager and the Rev. Chris Dotson, and burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Golden Circle Mission Fund, Calvary Baptist Church, 314 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
