Marie Collins Sechrist Easter

Mrs. Marie Collins Sechrist Easter, 75, of Cana, VA, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Easter was born in Rockingham County, September 16, 1933, to Rush C. Collins, Sr. and Mamie Wall Collins. She loved her family and friends as much as she loved "working for the government" at St. Paul School and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Tina Sechrist of Cana, VA; two stepsons, Ronnie Easter and wife, Jean, of Mount Airy and Scotty Easter of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Kenny W. Sechrist and wife, Danielle, Justin K. Sechrist, Ashley A. Nester, and Shane Wolfe; a great-grandson, Derek W. Sechrist; five stepgrandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jimmy Julian of Eden; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Rush and Ann Collins and Paul and Louise Collins, all of Madison, Clarence Collins of Dobson, Donald Collins of Lakewood, CO, Polly Collins of Madison, and Edith Collins of Reidsville; and a special friend, Bonnie McCraw. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Easter was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Easter; a stepson, Larry Easter; a sister, Edith Rumley; and two brothers, James Collins and Harold Collins. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dwight Sechrist and the Rev. Buster Sechrist. Burial will follow in Ellisboro Baptist Church Cemetery in Madison. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
