Marie Virginia Hodges Edwards

Mrs. Marie Virginia Brown Hodges Edwards, age 90, of Galax, passed away Friday, June 7, 2019, at Waddell Nursing Home.  Mrs. Edwards was born in Fireco, WV, to Major Armfield and Martha Baugess Brown.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who will be dearly missed.  Surviving are daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Shores, Charlotte and Junior Crabb, and Karen Bowman; fifteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a brother, Ray Brown; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her first husband, James Hodges, her second husband, Isaac Edwards; sons, Eric Hodges, Ivan Hodges, and Ennis Hodges; a grandson, Jeremy LaFrancis; a great grandson, Hunter Vanhoy; six siblings.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Rick Johnson.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Old State Road Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
