Marie Elizabeth (Whitlow) Ramey

Mrs. Marie Elizabeth Whitlow Ramey, age 87 of Mount Airy went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Ramey was born September 23, 1936, in Floyd County, Virginia to the late Oliver Wilson and Nannie Ruth Conner Whitlow.  Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother; sister, and friend.  She was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Ararat, North Carolina and will be deeply missed by all who know her.  Surviving are her five daughters and sons-in-law, Susan McHone and husband Junior, Brenda Vance and husband John, Shelby Ramey, Elizabeth Easter and husband Kevin, Donna Easter and husband Corey; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie Ramey and wife Pat, Phillip Ramey and wife Ginger; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; a niece, Sharon Peniza; and a special caregiver, Kathy Whitener.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ramey was preceded in death by a daughter, Detra Michelle Ramey; and a brother, Arnold Whitlow.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Josh Sechrist and Mr. David McHone officiating.  Interment will follow at New Venture Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the love and kindness shown to Mrs. Ramey during her illness.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
