Marie Calloway Shores

Mrs. Marie Alice Calloway Shores, 91, widow of Mr. Dewey Arvil Shores, of Jonesville passed away on Wednesday January 16, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born in Surry County on March 2, 1916 to the late James Houston and Sarah Ann Cockerham Calloway. Mrs. Shores was retired from Chatham Manufacturing where she worked as a Cloth Inspector and was the oldest member of Mountain Park Baptist Church. She is survived by her devoted daughter Lavinia Shores Blackburn; a sister Geneva Sidden of Elkin; several special nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Addie Shores. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Shores was preceded in death by a brother, E. F. Calloway and two sisters, Gertha Carter and Stella Snow. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Friday January 18, 2008 at Mountain Park Baptist Church with Dr. Carl Childs and Rev. Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 to 3 pm at the church and other times at the home of her daughter, 2837 Mountain Crest Road Jonesville, NC.
