Marjorie Carol Smith Cheek

Mrs. Marjorie Carol Smith Cheek, age 85, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Monday August 12, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Cheek was born December 20, 1938, in Cheshire, Ohio, to the late Henry and Anna Smith. She was married to the love of her life, the late Jimmy Lee Cheek, for 63 wonderful years. Mrs. Smith was a proud homemaker and a dear mother to her wonderful kids and was of the Baptist faith. Together they were the parents of seven children, James Michael Cheek (Janet) of Newbern, NC, Gregory Lee Cheek (Kim), of Mount Airy, NC, Ricky Don Cheek (Lisa) of Mount Airy, NC, Robert Mark Cheek (Sandy) of Charlotte, NC, Steven Dirk Cheek (Joyce) of Pilot Mountain, NC, Carla Ann Cheek of Pilot Mountain, NC, Robin Cheek Hauser (John) of Ararat, NC. She had 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Cheek also had several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years; sisters, Katherine Brookover, Betty Jane Williamson; brothers, Henry Ellis Smith, Emory Henry Smith, Paul Smith. A celebration of Mrs. Cheek life will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with the Dr. Jonathan Casstevens officiating, and family members speaking as well. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. A private burial will be held at a later date with her grandchildren serving as honorary pallbearers.
