Marjorie Ruth Brooks Hutchens

Mrs. Marjorie Ruth Brooks Hutchens, 89, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Golden Living Nursing Home in Mt. Airy. She was born in Alleghany County on March 14, 1927 to the late Arthur and Mable Brooks. Mrs. Hutchens was retired from Northern Hospital of Surry County and was a member of Haymore Baptist Church. She served our country in the United States Army as a Military Nurse. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie Kay Collins and James; grandchildren and spouse, Jason Dinkins, Mackenzie Tharington and Josh, and Joshua Dinkins; great grandchildren, Cameron Tharington, Nolan Tharington, and Hadley Dinkins; a sister, Cub Hill. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hutchens was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie Harold Hutchens; two sisters, Iris Gambill, and Lucy McGrady. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Skyline memory Gardens with the Rev. Robert McCrary officiating. There will not be a formal visitation.
