Marlene Simmons Johnson

Mrs. Marlene Simmons Johnson, 86, of Pilot Mountain, widow of James Clayton Johnson, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021, in Yadkinville. Mrs. Johnson was born December 21, 1934, in Surry County, to the late John and Zella Gammons Simmons. Marlene retired from Mount Airy Housing Authority and was a homemaker. She was a member of Woodville Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and David Shelton; a son, Bradley Johnson; a grandson, Dwight Shelton (Sarah); and a brother and sister-in-law, Arvid and Joyce A. Simmons. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Dwayne and Shirley Y. Simmons. The funeral service will be held Monday, November 8, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Kevin Kilby and the Rev. Joe Smith. Burial will follow in the Indian Grove Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from noon until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
