Mr. Marlin James Mabe, 41, of Mount Airy, went to his heavenly home on Sunday morning, July 31, 2022, from Atrium Health - Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. He was born June 9, 1981, in Martinsville, VA to Patricia and Doyle Mabe. Marlin graduated from Bassett High School and worked at Central States Manufacturing, Inc. in Mount Airy as long as his health permitted. He also attended Calvary Baptist Church. Marlin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who had a heart of gold. He will be missed tremendously. Marlin always had a smile on his face and acting his goofy self with his endless wealth of knowledge. Marlin leaves behind his wife of 10 years, Kathryn “Katie” Paige Clifton Mabe; his children, Jessica, McKayla, Charlie James, and Marleigh Kate; his granddaughter, Kendall; his father, Doyle and Rebecca Mabe; his brother from another mother, Alex Easter; his mother-in-law, Paige Thornburg Clifton; his father-in-law, Al and Denise Clifton; brother-in-law, Andrew and Karmen Clifton; his Pa, John Clifton; sister-in-law, Rhiannon and Erik Spencer; several nieces and nephews; grandmother, Sharon Thornburg; special friends, Danny and Hope Lineberry; special furry friends, Zeke, Milo, and Macie; and the rest of our village whom he loved and adored. Marlin was raised by his “mom” and uncle, Lisa and Timothy Vernon. Marlin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvah Marlin and Jeanette Mabe; and his Nanny, Dot Clifton. Funeral services for Marlin will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 2:00PM at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Dotson, Rev. Josh Blevins, Mr. Danny Lineberry, and Rev. Steve Johnson. Burial will follow in the Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday at the church from 12:00 to 2:00PM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Mount Airy and the sixth-floor cancer center staff at Baptist Hospital. Friends and family will be gathering at the home of Sharon and Junior Barker in Lowgap. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Mabe family. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Roaring Gap Baptist Church, PO Box 304, Lowgap, NC 27024 to continue to support the needs of the community as they have supported us through our entire journey or to Marlin’s family. “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”!
