Marlyn Brisco Thomas

Mr. Marlyn Brisco Thomas, 68, of 2458 Pine Ridge Road, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2007, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Thomas was born December 31, 1938, in Surry County, to the late Tyler B. and Thelma Upchurch Thomas. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was the former owner and operator of Odell's Sandwich Shop and Riverside Restaurant. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Coalson Thomas of the home; a daughter, Susan Thomas and friend, Todd Tilley, of King; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Fern Marion of Dobson, Teresa and Donald Mosley of Mount Airy, and Ann Waddell of Winston-Salem; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat Coalson, Shelby and Weldon Taylor, and Ray Clifton, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Phyllis Coalson Clifton; and a nephew. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Lester Bryant, and burial will follow in the Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
