Mrs. Marolyn Venable Marion, 76, of Lowgap, a faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Monday morning, November 18, 2024, at her home. Mrs. Marion was born October 15, 1948, in Columbus County, one of three daughters born to the late James Gilbert and Stella Payne Venable. Marolyn grew up surrounded by a warm, loving family, and it was clear from an early age that her caring nature would define her life. After marrying Homer Lee Marion on April 13, 1970, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to building a loving and supportive home. She was the embodiment of grace, patience, and strength, always putting the needs of her family above her own. Marolyn was known for her warm smile, her kind spirit, and her willingness to lend a hand to those in need. She was a faithful and devoted member of Roaring Gap Baptist Church for many years, attending services and participating in church activities as long as her health permitted. She found great joy and strength in her church community, where she formed friendships and served the Lord with humility and grace. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Homer Lee Marion; a daughter, Tracy Marion; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Keel Godwin; a grandson, Jonah Godwin; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Danny Sutphin; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Shana Renegar. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marion was preceded in death by an infant son, James Edward Marion; and a sister, Gail Venable Boyer. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Joe Atkins and the Rev. Allen Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or online at www.alz.org. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love, care, and compassion shown by her physician, Dr. Jan Kriska, her caregiver, Margaret Creed, and her hospice nurse, Tina Leonard of Liberty Hospice. Her presence in the lives of her family and community will be forever missed, but her love, kindness, and unwavering devotion will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. In the words of Marolyn, “I love you one million!”
