Marshall Hill

Mr. Marshall Gilmer Hill, 102, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Monday morning, June 28, 2021, at his home. Mr. Hill was born October 9, 1918, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late Edgar and Liza Fulk Hill. Gilmer worked as a farmer and welder for many years and attended Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church. He is survived by his grandchildren, Danny and Shelley Dodson of Mesa, AZ, and Anita and David Levens of Winston-Salem; his great-grandchildren, Anna and Zachary Miller of Oak Island, and Shea Dodson and Ty and Brittany Dodson, all of Mesa, AZ; three great-great-grandchildren; a special friend and caregiver, Carol Tolbert Beck of Pilot Mountain; and a special friend and neighbor, Jerry McDowell of Pilot Mountain. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Nora Doss Hill; his daughter, Billie Faye Dodson; two sons, Clayton Hill and Bruce Hill; two sisters, Opal King and Edith Collins; and a brother, Spencer Hill. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Elder Rodney Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
