Mrs. Martha Bessie Jenkins Bledsoe, age 79, of Dobson the loving Mother and Mammy passed away on Thursday February 28, 2008 at the Yadkin Nursing Center in Yadkinville. She was born in Surry County on December 24, 1928 to the late James Solomon Jenkins and the late Lillie Mae Stanley Bledsoe. She was a life long faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was retired from Perry Manufacturing in Mt. Airy, retired from John Boys Restaurant in West End Elkin, and worked on the family farm. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Pat and Tim Parker of Dobson; a son and daughter-in-law Ray and Kim Bledsoe of Dobson; nine grandchildren Michelle and David Oxendine, Mitchell Parker, Brooke Hall, Zack Bledsoe, Laken Hall, Dustin Bledsoe, Bailey Bledsoe, Nicole "Cole" Hall and McKenzie "Squeaker" Bledsoe; five great grandchildren Charlie "Matt" Oxendine, Dillon Parker, Sarah Oxendine, Keaton Landis, Dane Lambert; one sister Lessie Coe of Dobson; one brother and sister-in-law Connie and Lola Belle Jenkins of Dobson; sister-in-law Betty Joe Jenkins of Dobson; special friend Peggy Quesinberry of Dobson. In addition to her parents she was preceded by her loving Husband Sherman Foley Bledsoe; three sisters Callie Jenkins, Clara Jenkins, Frances Jenkins; seven brothers Claude, Lonzie, Cephus, Joe, Charlei, Conrad, Aire Jenkins. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday March 1, 2008 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Curtis Ponder, Rev. Allen Jenkins, Rev. Barlow Stanley and Rev. Terry Coe will conduct the services.
The Family will receive friends at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on Friday evening from 7 until 9 P.M. and at other times at her home. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Bledsoe family.
